Welcome to my electronic professional portfolio. From the links on this page, you can see trips and activities I have organized for my students over the years. I have 26 years of teaching experience at the high school, college and university levels. Although grades 11 - 12 - 13 physics and mathematics are my main background, I had the opportunity to teach Biology, Mathematics (including statistics and AP Calculus) & Chemistry and general science courses in no less than 7 different countries around the world. Lately, my main areas of teaching have been advanced physics and calculus courses. Since 2012 I teach physics at a community college in Quebec (CÉGEP) and since 2013, I also teach pedagogy and active learning strategies at Université du Québec à Montréal (UQÀM) at the faculty of education and supervise future high school science teachers enrolled in a Master’s programme. |

My teaching philosophy is based on a student-centered approach. I do not use socratic lessons anymore in my classes and give great importance to active learning such as: teamwork, independent study units, problem & project based learning activities, laboratories, field trips and group projects. I like interactive and dynamic classes and this is a reason why my questioning techniques are strong and effective. I consider education as the development of a person to its full potential in a changing society. You can have a look at some of the active-learning projects I have been creating lately at my college by clicking here. You can also watch a video (in French) here. Since 1990, I am a CPR first aid instructor for the Canadian Saving Society. This gave me the chance to train numerous people in Canada and lately, to instruct staff and students. I am also a website designer (I've designed the websites for some previous schools I worked for) and I am a passionate dive master. I am innovative and new challenges are an important part of my life. |
