Las Vegas & Hoover Dam

Las Vegas, USA July 10 to 14th 2011

After some wild camping with no water and no dry toilets (in Joshua Tree), Las Vegas was a huge change!  Busy, loud, lights, money…  At first; I was somewhat traumatized to see all this action.

I have little to say about Vegas.  It is all about the money baby!  Flashing, bling bling and hoping to get rich to get more things.  Simply not my style.

The hotels are absolutely fabulous with great shopping, fine restaurants, too many slot machines and thousands of hotel rooms.  I really liked the Belagio Hotel, the Venetian Hotel, the Wynn Hotel and the

Ceasar Palace where everything is bigger than imagination. I didn’t win any money, but didn’t lose any either.  Won 20$ with a dollar my first night and this kept me going for 4 days.

We took a day trip to Hoover Dam.  Just like Las Vegas, the term THINK BIG has all its meaning here.  The dam (built in 1935) provides most of the electricity (and water) to Las Vegas. The new bridge (opened in October 2010) in front of the dam is linking Arizona to Nevada is fantastic with great views of the dam.
