Joshua Tree National Park, USA July 8 to 10th 2011

previous to Baja California Our two year jouney in Mexico ended on July 8th 2011.  We drove early in the morning to Tijuana and cross the border.  It took more than 2 hours to get to immigration, but we made it!  As soon as we crossed the border, highways became nicer and faster.  We drove almost non stop to Yucca Valley at the entrance of Joshua Tree National Park where we slept camped for two nights.  I thought we would be the only one there, but Jumbo Rocks camping had at least two dozen sites taken.  The days were extremely hot (39 degrees Celcius) and nights cool (around 18 degrees Celcius).  The Joshua Tree is really interesting and makes great pictures in the evening. (see below)

We made some nice hikes in the park early in the morning, but spent our afternoons in Yucca valley village.  It was simply too hot to be outside during that time.

After some wild camping with no water and no dry toilets (in Joshua Tree), Las Vegas was a huge change! (continued reading to Las Vegas)
