4th visit at the TERMOELECTRICA (Fossil Fuel Power Plant) in Villa Juarez, a 30 minutes bus ride from the school. 75 grade 12 students whad the chance to visit

22000 liters of crude oil (tar) every hour is used to generate about 1.2 MW of energy. This station located in the state of Durango is one of the most polluting form of generating electrical energy in Mexico.

50 liters of water per second is used to turn the turbine. Some is reused, but many liters are evaporated into the atmosphere when the steam condenses back into water.
