December 2008

A four hour flight brought us from a warm St.Maarten (28 degrees) to a
cold New York city (-5 degrees + wind). Nevertheless, it was our first winter visit in this part of the world since 2006 and we were really looking forward to breathe some cold fresh air. (I was in India just last week and the air was absolutely terrible). Also, Alixe was only 4 months old the last time she saw snow, so we were really looking forward to go home for Chritmas and see her play in the snow.

It was my first time back to New York city since 1990. A city where so much history happened on September 11th 2001... Surprisingly, I remembered most of the city and was suprized how things haven’t changed much. Less garbage and less graffiti, but really, just as big, commercial and business oriented as before.

We spent two nights in New Jersey, but the hotel was only a 15 minute bus ride from down town New York.  The location was great!  Public transport is the way to go in New York city.

After a chilly day in New York, we drove back to Canada –Montreal-.  A pleasant 6 hour drive.  No snow storm, beautiful roads!
