The next morning, our vehicle took 45 minutes to start and we lost some time in our game drive. The overall safari was really poorly organized and by the 3 rd day, we changed vehicle and guide. The overall logistic was really bad and we lost over 7 hours of game drive. We tried to get compensated when we came back to Nairobi, but Planet Safari seemed to avoid the issue by having us waiting long hours in their office without anyone really listening to our concerns. By loosing slightly my nerves (I was very polite!), they decided to pay for our bus ride to Arusha ( Tanzania). A 20$ value! Better than nothing… The Masai Mara was our first safari ever and definitively up to our expectations: elephants, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, zebras, and so much more! The color of the beige grass against a dark purple sky is hard to really describe, so I took around 400 pictures in my first 4 days! On our way back to Nairobi, we went to the giraffe center, located about 20km away from Nairobi. This gave us the chance to get that close look on seven Masai Giraffes. The 20$ cab ride (return) was somewhat expensive, but it was well worth it. The center is self-sustainable and does not get any private or governmental founding. The border crossing between Kenya and Tanzania was a real joke. Dozens of buses, hundreds of tourists, stouts, vendors, beggars, thieves, children, all of them trying to get money from you. It was mass confusion! We waited about 25 minutes in a big group (not a line!) of tourists pushing, screaming, yelling, and trying to get their passport stamped. The immigration didn’t even look at our visa or passport picture and stamped our passport on a random page. I have to mention that only 2 officers were working and trying to stamped I would say over 1000 tourists per hour… CLICK HERE TO CONTINUE TO TANZANIA. |
